This carefully preserved apartment, situated above a historic storefront, is where Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911. Operated by the Tampico Area Historical Society, the site has been restored to reflect the period when the Reagan family lived there. Inside, guests can explore exhibits featuring photographs, memorabilia, and interpretive displays that highlight Reagan’s childhood, family life, and the values that shaped his future. The museum provides a self-guided experience that’s both educational and approachable, making it a worthwhile stop for history enthusiasts, road-trippers, and anyone interested in presidential history. Its location along the historic Lincoln Highway also makes it an easy addition to a scenic drive through Northwest Illinois. Visitors are encouraged to check seasonal hours before planning their trip. The museum is typically open weekends in March and expands to daily hours (Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Sunday, 1–4 p.m.) from April through October, with closures on Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day.

Muller’s Lane FarmMuller’s Lane Farm is a 10.8-acre family homestead near Rock Falls dedicated to traditional farming, heritage animals, and hands-on home arts. By-appointment tours introduce visitors to an early-1900s working-farm experience, with Belgian draft horses, heritage poultry, gardens, orchards, hives, seasonal produce, eggs, honey, handmade milk soaps, salves, fiber arts, and forged items. The farm also offers customizable homesteading lessons for families, homeschool groups, and other visitors.
On Any Sunday Motorcycle MuseumPrivate motorcycle collection in downtown Polo with about 90 bikes on display, especially European motorcycles from 1928 through 1978, plus racing and street-bike memorabilia. Hours can be limited and access may be by chance or appointment, so call before traveling.
Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish RefugeThe Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge – Savanna District in Thomson offers visitors access to one of the largest river wildlife refuges in the country. Stretching 261 river miles from Minnesota to Illinois and protecting more than 240,000 acres of wetlands, floodplain forests, backwaters, and river habitat, the refuge provides endless opportunities to experience the Mississippi River landscape. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, hiking, biking, birdwatching, photography, boating, and seasonal wildlife viewing year-round. Located within the Savanna District, visitors can also experience popular Golf Cart Wildlife and Birding Tours and explore the Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center, which is open year-round and features educational exhibits and opportunities to learn more about the river ecosystem. The refuge is part of the Mississippi Flyway and offers incredible opportunities to observe migrating birds, bald eagles, and native wildlife in every season.
