Meadows ParkMeadows Park is a 567-acre Dixon Park District recreation area stretching from Washington Avenue toward the Rock River. Its trails support hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and seasonal nature exploration, while the park also serves local soccer programs. Families can visit Wooden Wonderland playground and the adjacent accessible Water Wonderland splash pad with 23 water features, picnic space, pavilion, restrooms, and paved parking.
Mills & Petrie Memorial Library & GymnasiumMills & Petrie Memorial Library & Gymnasium serves Ashton and surrounding communities with books, audiobooks, public computers, Wi-Fi, digital resources, interlibrary loan, children's programs, clubs, and community activities. The historic community building also offers an affordable gymnasium, Legion Room, entry hall, commercial kitchen, and meeting rooms for birthdays, reunions, weddings, business meetings, and other gatherings. Mix ParkMix Park is a 2.5-acre Oregon Park District site with a playground, pickleball courts, picnic tables, a shelter, and seasonal restrooms. Donated to the City of Oregon in 1920 and renovated in 2001, the award-winning park also features public art, including Lorado Taft's “Boys with Fish” sculpture and Jeff Adams's “Paths of Conviction, Footsteps of Fate.”
Morrison Covered BridgeThe Morrison Covered Bridge offers a scenic and functional crossing along the Morrison-Rockwood Recreational Trail, just north of Morrison, Illinois. Built in the early 2000s, this modern covered bridge was designed to enhance access to nearby Rockwood State Park while providing a safe route for both vehicles and pedestrians. Spanning approximately 140 feet, the two-span structure includes an adjacent pedestrian walkway, making it easy for walkers and cyclists to enjoy the surroundings at their own pace. The bridge crosses Rock Creek and is surrounded by natural scenery, creating a peaceful setting that’s especially popular for photos year-round. While not a historic structure, the Morrison Covered Bridge has become a recognizable stop for visitors exploring the area. Its location along the trail system makes it a convenient place to pause, take in the view, and continue on toward Rockwood State Park or nearby routes.
Morrison Lincoln Highway MuralThe Morrison Lincoln Highway Interpretive Mural at 208 E. Main Street depicts visitors arriving at the 1921 Whiteside County Fair after the newly paved Lincoln Highway made regional travel easier. Installed as part of the Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition’s interpretive mural series, the hand-painted work connects Morrison’s fair heritage with the nation’s first transcontinental highway and forms part of the scenic byway’s public-art trail across Illinois.
Morrison Sports ComplexMorrison Sports Complex is a 35-acre public multi-field park on the east edge of Morrison. The facility includes four softball and Little League diamonds, one baseball diamond, a football and soccer field, picnic shelters, and a half-mile perimeter walking path. A jumping pillow was added in 2025. Local and travel teams use the complex for practices, competitions, clinics, and tournaments, and individual fields or the full complex may be reserved for organized events.
Morrison Veteran’s Park & MemorialMorrison Veteran’s Park & Memorial on East High Street offers a quiet place to honor area veterans. The memorial includes a Howitzer field-artillery piece, tablets naming deceased Morrison-area veterans with service and burial information, personalized brick pavers, and granite benches for reflection. The American, POW/MIA, and Illinois flags fly above the site. Contact the City of Morrison for information about purchasing a memorial brick.
Morrison-Rockwood Recreational TrailThe Morrison-Rockwood Recreational Trail is the first phase of a community-supported route planned to connect Morrison with Morrison-Rockwood State Park. The existing section begins near the Norrish Road covered bridge and extends toward Crosby and Damen roads, offering a quiet outdoor route for walking and bicycling. The Friends of the Parks Foundation supports this trail and other recreation, park, and nature projects in the Morrison area.
