Day 1 — Take the Leap
Keep the morning flexible for weather, then make the afternoon intentionally easy.
Chicagoland Skydiving Center in Rochelle
Reserve a tandem jump, complete the briefing, and let the professional team manage the pace. Weather delays are normal, so do not stack the schedule too tightly.
Flight Deck Bar & Grill
Stay on the airport campus for lunch, watch other jumpers descend, and give the adrenaline time to settle before driving.
Castle Rock State Park
Stretch your legs on wooded trails and climb the stairs to the Rock River overlook. Check trail conditions after rain or snow.
The Cabins at Pine Creek
Settle into a cabin in the Oregon and White Pines countryside, within an easy drive of dinner and the next day’s parks.
Day 2 — Prairie and River Bluffs
Choose two nature stops, not four; this day is better with time to notice what is moving through the landscape.
Nachusa Grasslands
Walk the visitor-access areas of a major tallgrass-prairie restoration. Bison are wild and may be distant; remain in approved areas and follow preserve guidance.
Lowden State Park
See Lorado Taft’s Eternal Indian above the Rock River and choose a trail through the wooded bluff landscape.
LaVigna Restaurant
Finish with Northern Italian cooking near Oregon when the day calls for a relaxed sit-down meal.
Hairy Cow Brewing Company
Or follow the Rock River north to Byron for craft beer, wood-fired pizza, and riverfront seating when the weather cooperates.
